Weekend Photos - Wild Horses in Western Nevada

Happy Pi Day! This weekend I braved the snowmageddon hitting California and made it up the Reno area. I may or may not have participated in the Leprechaun Pub Crawl with a bunch a friends and there could be some pictures up of me in my full Scottish regalia! It wasn’t cultural appropriation - don’t worry I have Scottish heritage and can trace back to the Clan McFarland. I learned a couple of things about wearing a kilt - mainly I have sexy knees and that a kilt isn’t that great in sub-freezing temperatures lol.

I did have a chance to do some photography and went out in search of wild horses in the area around Reno. I met up with an incredible group of people that feed the horses. They do this to prevent them from coming into the populated areas and being hit by cars. They asked me not to post the location of where they were feeding the horses. It turns out people steal the young horses and worse. There are a lot of politics and unfortunate human activities as always when in comes to wild horses. Ugh - our species can be a menace!

The horses are definitely not scared of people and it was beautiful to see them in the wild!

If you like any of these pictures - let me know! There should be a comment section below the pictures.

With flowing tail and flying mane, Wide nostrils never stretched by pain, Mouth bloodless to bit or rein, And feet that iron never shod, And flanks unscar’d by spur or rod, A thousand horses – the wild – the free – Like waves that follow o’er the sea, Came thickly thundering on.
— Lord Byron
