New blog post! Little Yosemite aka Big Bald Rock - Berry Creek

Wow - hard to believe that it has been almost a year since I posted a blog on my website. I have to admit, last year was an off year for me and photography. I didn’t get out nearly enough. It is a new years resolution to do more photography this year and share my pictures.

These pictures are from Bald Rock - near Oroville, California. It is part of the Bald Rock Pluton - which is a large body of melted rocks that formed about 140 million years ago. Big Baldy is visible from the Sacramento Valley floor - just look a little above Oroville and it pops out!

After the recent storms - I knew there would be plenty of water and was hoping for good light and some cool reflections. I will put a link below if you want to go check it out. It is a pretty easy hike to the dome - probably a couple hundred feet of elevation gain. The trail is a little eroded and there is evidence of the fire all around the pluton. There are a bunch of cool rock formations and a great view of the valley.

No matter how sophisticated you may be, a large granite mountain cannot be denied - it speaks in silence to the very core of your being.
